It’s Local Government Week!

This week, the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is celebrating Local Government Week by helping students and residents learn more about how government works — from local to federal levels — and how everyone can get involved.

To mark the occasion, the Town has created a Local Government Booklet, which explains the roles and responsibilities of each level of government and highlights how municipal services impact daily life in BWG. The booklet also features facts about Town departments, the structure of Council, and how decisions are made to keep our community safe, vibrant, and growing.

Throughout the week, the Mayor, Members of Council, and Town staff will be visiting schools across BWG to talk with students about what local government means and how they can play a part in shaping their community’s future. These classroom visits are a great opportunity for students to learn how local democracy works — and to see firsthand how their Town operates behind the scenes.

Stay tuned to our social media channels all week long for short videos and messages from Town departments, Council members, and staff who help make BWG a great place to live, work, and play.

And don’t miss the chance to see Council in action! Tune in to the next Council meeting on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, to watch local decision-making live.

Together, let’s celebrate Local Government Week and discover how teamwork between elected officials, Town staff, and residents helps shape the future of BWG!
