National Flag of Canada Day

NATIONAL FLAG OF CANADA DAY

WHEREAS: at the stroke of noon on February 15, 1965, Canada’s red and white maple leaf flag was raised for the very first time on Parliament Hill, marking a significant moment in our nation’s history; and

WHEREAS: on the same day in 1996, National Flag of Canada Day was officially declared to recognize the flag’s importance in reflecting our shared identity, values, and pride as Canadians; and

WHEREAS: our national flag is a powerful symbol that unites us as a nation, representing the ideals of peace, order, and good government that all Canadians hold dear; and

WHEREAS: the red and white maple leaf flag continues to inspire pride and unity among Canadians of all backgrounds and generations; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council hereby proclaim February 15, 2025, as National Flag Day in Bradford West Gwillimbury, to celebrate 60 years of the Canadian flag as a symbol of our enduring values and national unity.

Please join us for a flag raising.
The flag-raising will take place on Saturday, February 15 at 3:00 pm (outside) at the Court House Courtyard - 57 Holland Street E.
