BWG Proclaims Pink Shirt Day

PINK SHIRT DAY

WHEREAS: Pink Shirt Day began in Canada as a powerful reminder that small acts of kindness can create meaningful change, and has since grown into a national movement promoting respect, empathy, and inclusion; and

WHEREAS: bullying in all its forms—whether in person or online—can have lasting impacts on individuals, families, and communities, affecting mental health, well-being, and a sense of belonging; and

WHEREAS: everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and respected at school, at work, and in the community, regardless of age, gender identity, race, ability, religion, or background; and

WHEREAS: Pink Shirt Day encourages Canadians to stand together against bullying and discrimination, and to foster communities rooted in kindness, acceptance, and compassion;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim February 25, 2026, as PINK SHIRT DAY in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
