Ontario Heritage Week

February 17 - 23, 2025

WHEREAS the heritage of Bradford West Gwillimbury – in all its forms, including architectural, cultural, and natural – is a living legacy that helps us understand our past, provides context for the present, and shapes our future; and

WHEREAS our community is enhanced and strengthened by its heritage places and spaces, fostering pride and contributing to the well-being of our social fabric; and

WHEREAS the Ontario Heritage Trust invites us to celebrate heritage during the third week of February, encouraging reflection on the importance of preserving and promoting our shared history; and

WHEREAS Heritage Week provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the value of heritage, honor those dedicated to its preservation, and celebrate the invaluable contributions of the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee, local heritage organizations, and volunteers working to protect and conserve our community’s rich and diverse heritage; and

WHEREAS Ontario Heritage Week encourages all residents to celebrate and appreciate the rich and diverse heritage of our province and to reflect on the importance of preserving and promoting our shared history for future generations;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim February 17-23 2025, as ONTARIO HERITAGE WEEK in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
