August 9, 2025

WHEREAS: We raise the United Nations flag on behalf of the past, present and future peacekeepers residing in Central Ontario; and

WHEREAS: On August 9, 1974, an aircraft was shot down during peacekeeping duties, ultimately killing all nine personnel on board. Korejwo were two soldiers from this area that made the supreme sacrifice; and

WHEREAS: The United Nations flag is raised and flown to honour the memory of the many Canadians who have given their lives in the service of peace. It also demonstrates our continued support of the brave men and women who are currently on active duty in foreign lands; and
