International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

March 21, 2025

WHEREAS: The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury believes that equal opportunity and treatment should exist for all people; and

WHEREAS: Every person has the right to realize their potential, regardless of race, colour, national or ethnic origin; and to live at all times in conditions of dignity, respect, and peace; and

WHEREAS: Racial discrimination is a universal issue that divides communities and threatens the political, social, economic, and cultural foundations on which our cities and towns are built; and

WHEREAS: The General Assembly of the United Nations has designated March 21 as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination; and

WHEREAS: The elimination of racism and racial discrimination can be accomplished through understanding and respect for the dignity of all people, and is the social and moral responsibility of each person.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim March 21, 2025, as International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
