BWG Proclaims Franco-Ontarian Day in BWG


WHEREAS: the Franco-Ontarian flag, officially adopted in 1975, is a powerful symbol of the identity, resilience, and pride of Ontario’s Francophone community; and

WHEREAS: since 2010, September 25 has been officially recognized as Franco-Ontarian Day, an opportunity to celebrate the exceptional contributions of Francophones to the cultural, social, and economic vitality of our province; and

WHEREAS: the Franco-Ontarian community, with over 600,000 members, continues to enrich Ontario’s multicultural fabric through its language, heritage, and commitment to Canada’s linguistic duality; and

WHEREAS: this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag, an historic milestone that highlights half a century of perseverance and the continued growth of Francophonie in Ontario; and

WHEREAS: all francophones in the province, including the Viamonde school board’s students and staff members, are proudly celebrating today the 50th anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag, encouraging everyone to take part in the festivities and show their support for Ontario’s Francophonie.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim September 25, 2025, as “Franco-Ontarian Day” in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
