Epilepsy Awareness Month / Purple Day

March 2025 / March 26, 2025

WHEREAS: According to Epilepsy Canada, 1 in 100 Canadians are affected by epilepsy; and

WHEREAS: Epilepsy is a physical condition characterized by sudden, brief changes in how the brain works; and

WHEREAS: It is a symptom of a neurological disease - a disease that affects the brain and shows itself in the form of seizures; and

WHEREAS: Epilepsy Awareness Month is a global effort dedicated to promoting epilepsy awareness in countries around the world; and

WHEREAS: Purple Day is celebrated on March 26th annually to increase understanding, reduce stigma and improve the quality of life for people with Epilepsy throughout the country and globally.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim March 2025, as Epilepsy Awareness Month and March 26, 2025 as Purple Day in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
